Destiny Wrestling: No Limits Event

You haven't heard from me in a month and now I'm back with another blog post just hours after my last one lol. I'm trying to get this blog updated as much as possible, so hopefully you'll see another post tomorrow and then I'll be done! For now though, let's focus on this post:

On October 3rd my friend and I went to check out Destiny Wrestling's event called 'No Limits'. We paid VIP pricing which was 100 dollars (it pretty much promised a meet and greet with Rey, aswell as, front row seats to the event). A lot of people, including my friend, thought that they would be selling pictures for Rey to sign when we got there but that was not the case. Rey was also an hour late which delayed the whole event. What was suppose to be a meet and greet turned into a quick signing and rushed photo. I was pretty hyped going in as a VIP member but things weren't turning out as planned.

We were told we could sit anywhere behind the first 3 rows. I was fine with that even though the VIP description said otherwise (front row seating). The thing that was annoying was seeing people save 6 spots in front of you for people that don't have any wristbands and just have general tickets. I let it slide though because I just paid the money to meet Rey and get a picture and autograph. Want to know what though? They announced that Rey was staying after the event to sign and take pictures with people for a small fee...So why did I pay for VIP again? I could've just paid 35 dollars and got the same treatment as a VIP member while saving 65 dollars...Would I pay for VIP again at their events?

Now it wasn't all bad; there are some things they did right that I have to give them credit for. I was impressed with the Don Kolov arena and the whole layout of the place. Secondly their match booking and talent are really stellar and it was very enjoyable to watch with the crowd that showed up. Going to small events like this is great because you meet die hard wrestling fans and they are really emotionally invested with what is going on in the ring. I did post a lot of clips on my Instagram if you want to check out some of the highlights (I'll link it at the bottom). There were a ton of great matches but I'm just going to talk about my favourite two here. 

The first match I want to talk about is Xandra Bale vs Jennifer Blake. They put on a great match together with their high flying moves. Jennifer Blake really stood out to me with her wrestling ability and how good she can work the crowd (she played a great heel and her finisher is deadly!) I recorded two clips from their match which you can check out below:

The next match that stood out on the card was the main event featuring Ricochet, Justin Gabriel and Rey Mysterio.

These guys put on some great spots during their match. They all had chemistry in the ring and it's a shame not a lot of people got to see the performance these guys put on. Fortunately, Destiny wrestling will be releasing the event sometime in the future so you can all check out this amazing main event. For now you can enjoy this clip that I recorded:

So yeah, my thoughts on the event is if you pay 35 dollars to attend then I would highly recommend it. If you see a VIP package and are contemplating it then I would HIGHLY suggest otherwise. Also, here is my picture with Rey:

Unfortunately the picture on my phone came out blurry but luckily my friend took one from the side. I'm thinking about going to their next event for 35 dollars but I'm not really in too much a rush to go tbh. I think about all the great matches and everything but then I remember things like this:

What's that you say? That is my friends piece of paper that he asked the receptionist to give him so that he can get it signed by Rey Mysterio....These are the perks for 100 dollar VIP tickets. Anyway, I'm still salty if you couldn't tell lol but this organization does have potential; They just have to be careful with how they sell premium tickets next time. That's it for me though! Going to ConBravo for the First Time

Hey guys! As you all know, I have been going to a lot of cons this summer and I recently went to two that I haven't attended before. These cons are both still fairly new and don't have much guests appearing at them. Fist, I will talk about ConBravo, let's get started!

I initially wasn't going to go to this event because I had a wedding to go to the previous day. I thought I would be tired, but I wasn't, so we headed to the event a little late (around 3 hours late). I had no goal at this con, mainly because I didn't know any of the guests there (they were all youtubers that I was unaware of) so I was just following my friend to see how the con was. My friends goal was to meet the Black Nerd and he did just that at the TMNT panel. The TMNT panel that was hosted by the Black Nerd and his colleagues was handled really well. They talked about the good memories:

I didn't take much pics at this con because it was fairly small and I wasn't there for a long period, so taking pictures wasn't really on my mind. In addition to that, when I found the game room, I didn't leave that area. I had low expectations going into this con, so when I found the game room and it had a Street Fighter and King of Fighters arcade cab, I was like:

At first, I thought you had to pay 25 cents to use the arcade cabinets but then I found out you didn't have to pay anything! This was pretty awesome because I doubt people would've been playing otherwise. Some of the arcade cabs that were there were: Street Fighter Alpha, Street Fighter 3, Mortal Kombat 3 and a Neo-Geo collection one.

They also had a set up for Ultra Street Fighter 4, Killer Instinct and CVS2. It was my first time playing Killer Instinct and it seems like a fairly easy game to jump into (I was beating people that played the game before). I still don't know how to play that game but it was fun and the people that I played were all really nice. The guys that were good at fighting games were pretty much crowded around the Third Strike cab (I got some wins and losses there).

You could tell whoever was in charge of setting up this area was a big fighting game fan and knew exactly how to set up a gaming area. There were all types of games including: dancing, mixing, fighting, retro and the list goes on. 

Now I will show some of the stuff I saw in the video game area:

This is the E.T videogame that is famous for being terrible. I played it for about 3 minutes and couldn't get out that area. I have to say they might be right about this one lol.

Of course I had to hit the classic SF2 for Super Nintendo. Props to the guys that still have a working SNES from back in the day (I don't sadly).

This was the retro area that had SNES, Atari, PS2 and other retro systems running the classics.

This was a mixing game that I didn't get to try out but it looked awesome! Overall, ConBravo did exceed my expectations because of the one gaming area. This con had the best gaming area I have seen at any of these events. The con itself is small but for 20 dollars admission, there's not much to complain about. This is a con I would visit again for the games. Hopefully they get more guests that I know of in the future.

Free Comic Book Day 2015

Hey Guys!

I know it's been a minute but so much stuff has been happening so I couldn't update this blog until the long weekend (Happy Victoria Day BTW!). I decided I'd celebrate by finally updating this blog and filling you guys in on what's going on, as well as, set my Twitch account back up so I can start streaming some games again (probably Street Fighter).

So on Saturday May 2nd I was out all day because everyone decided to throw an event at the same day but at different times. Let's start with the morning and that would be:

Free Comic Book Day

A couple of friends and I decided to go to Free Comic book day and our first stop was a comic shop called Stadium Comics in Shoppers World. There was a long line but it was good to see this event gaining so much popularity. The guys that throw the event did an awesome job and had more then just free comics! There were also great deals in-store and they had an artist section where you could meet comic artist and talk to them about whatever you want (or buy one of their prints if you wanted). I bought this Cammy statue (had to support that Street Fighter):

I also got The New 52 Zero Omnibus which was on sale for 40 dollars!

We got a total of 5 free comics from there and decided to head to the Comic Warehouse and see if we could score some more comics that we didn't get. When we got there at around 1-2 PM, it seemed like the rush had died down and most of the popular free comics were gone. Fortunately, they still had a good selection and we were allowed to take one of each of the remaining comics (so about 8?), They also had a sale where all the dollar comics were 50 cents each so I picked up about 40 comics from there. Some of my favourite picks from were:

I didn't know Double Dragon had a comic book so I had to pick that up (did the same thing when I found out it had a movie...wasn't the best decision but its Double Dragon!). I also picked up the JSA vs Kobra because I didn't know about that crossover and it sounded intriguing. I purchased the Deadly Hands comic because the cover looked groovy and for 50 cents I was down to find out what it's about. Lastly I got that Generation X comic because I'm a fan of Howard the Duck (yes even after the movie, I'm still a fan of Deadpool after Wolverine Origins aswell).

I also bought a bunch of X-men comics and I saved the best finds for last...

 The Obama comics! (lol why does this exist? I had to get them just because I find it funny that this is real). Now it's time to show you why we went to this event in the first place...

The Free Comics!

Luckily I was able to get all the comics I wanted (Street Fighter, Jojo's Bizarre Adventure, TMNT, Attack on Titan and Hip-Hop Family Tree). Surprisingly, my friend that went to a Burlington comic shop was only able to get 1 free comic which is odd as most places give you 5. If you live close to Stadium Comics and the Comic Warehouse in Brampton then I highly recommend those places. After this event we went to the Sportscard & Memorabilia Expo in Mississauga. I will cover that one in my next blog post which will be up soon! (maybe in a couple hours, didn't want this blog post to be too long).
